Translation: Republic of Haiti year 78 / .900 thousandths.1881.25 grams.  
Description: The right profile of Creole Liberty at the center of the legend. Under the truncation, engraver's signature (ROTY) of Oscar Roty and engraver's designer (LAFORESTRIE) of Edmond Laforestrie, below the date. 'AN 78' means the creation of the Republic of Haiti in 1804.

Translation: Liberty Equality Fraternity
Description: surrounded by legend, the coat of arms of Haiti composed of six draped flags of the country, three on each side, which are located before a palm tree and cannons. On the ground a drum and long guns. Above the palm tree, there is a Phrygian cap placed as a symbol of freedom. The ribbon bears the motto: L'Union Fait La Force (French, "Unity Is Strength"). In the exergue, the mint mark of Régie des monnaies, the value and a fasces, as mark of general engraver Jean Lagrange.
